The Embassy following health guidelines issued by the Turkish health authorities celebrated “Vesak Festival” at the Embassy with the participation of Sri Lankans living in Turkey and Turkish friends on 26.05.2021.

The Embassy decorated colourfully and illuminated with Vesak lanterns and Buddhist flags. After following traditional religious rituals, Embassy staff organized a “Dansala” with Sri Lankan delicacies and Ceylon Tea at the Embassy premises. “Dansala” was a fresh experience for Turkish citizens as this is the first ever “Vesak Dansala” organized by the Embassy after the establishment in the soil of Turkey.  

Ambassador M.R. Hassen briefed the Turkish friends, the importance of “Vesak” to Buddhists all over the world as it marks the birth, enlightenment and passing away of Lord Buddha.

Turkish nationals enjoyed and praised the Embassy for allowing them to experience “Vesak” & “Dansala” in Ankara.
