The Embassy in collaboration with the Embassy of Turkey in Colombo, the Eskisehir Chamber of Industry, the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce organized an introductory business networking session for more than 80 Sri Lankan and Turkish companies today (04.11.2020) with the aim of enhancing bilateral trade between Sri Lanka & Turkey.

Ambassdor M. Rizvi Hassen while giving a brief introduction on trade potentials in Eskisehir region and overall in Turkey, invited Sri Lankan companies to explore potential available in Eskisehir. Further, the Ambassador thanked the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce for establishing a “Trade Desk for Turkey” for assisting Sri Lankan companies interested in Turkish market and also for the companies currently established trade links with Turkey.

H.E. Mrs. Rakibe Demet Sekercioglu, Ambassador of Turkey to Sri Lanka in her remarks invited Sri Lanka to look into cooperation in defence & construction sector as Turkey is strong in the two sectors.

Mr. Celalettin Kesikbas, President of Eskisehir Chamber of Industry & Mr. Manjula de Silva, Chief Executive Officer/ Secretary General of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce express their keen interest  to enhance bilateral trade  relations between Sri Lanka and Turkey.

Further, Mr. Celalettin Kesikbas, President of Eskisehir Chamber of Industry briefed on the available opportunities in Eskisehir for both countries and invited Sri Lankan companies to visit & tieup with business entities in Eskisehir .

Mr. Manjula de Silva, Chief Executive Officer / Secretary General of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce announced the establishment of the “Trade Desk for Turkey” at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and invited Sri Lankan companies to look into available opportunities in Turkey.

Two comprehensive presentations on Sri Lanka and Turkey were made for the partcipants and followed by question and answer session. Two Trade Chambers with the assistance of the Embassy will arrange individual virtual business matchmaking session for selected potential sectors as a second step of the exercise.
