The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Ankara, Turkey participated in an information sharing webinar and business networking session on coconut based product sector organized by Ministry of Foreign Relation and Export Development Board on 15th September 2020.  The aim of the webinar was to share information on potential varieties of coconut based products produce & exports from Sri Lanka to the Turkish market and connects potential Turkish importers, traders & supermarket chains with Sri Lankan exporters.

Ambassador M. Rizvi Hassen, Mr. P.M Amza, Additional Secretary (Economic Affairs) of Ministry Foreign Relations joined the webinar and Ms. Malani Baddegamage, Director, Sri Lanka Export Development Board & the Sri Lankan exporters made informative presentation highlighting the strengths of Sri Lanka in this sector and invited Turkish interested importers, supermarket chains to experience the uniqueness of Sri Lankan coconut based products. More than 30 Turkish interested importers including different coconut based product sectors joined the webinar.

During the meeting Ambassador while giving brief overview of the available untouched potentials and custom duty structure applicable to Turkey, invited Turkish importers to explore the Sri Lankan products and Sri Lankan exporters.

Mr. Başir Uğur, President of Turkey - Sri Lanka Business Council joining the session shared his experience with Sri Lanka since he started his business connection to Sri Lanka in 1987. Turkish participants were able to obtain answers for specific questions on products, duties, opportunities etc. The Embassy and Sri Lanka Export Development Board is currently coordinating individual B2B meeting between Sri Lankan and Turkish companies which started on 15th and will continue till early next week. Ms. Yoshitha Jayasuriya, Counselor (Commercial) and Mr. Emin Berk, Commercial Assistant of the Embassy also participated at the virtual meeting.
