The Office of Honorary Consulate of Sri Lanka to Antalya, Turkey officially opened during a ceremony organized in Alanya, Antalya province on 6th November 2021 with the participation of Minister of Foreign Affairs Turkey, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Turkey M. Rizvi Hassen, members of parliament based in the Antalya province, regional & district mayors in Antalya, representatives of business chambers and government officials of the Antalya Governorate.

Speaking at the occasion chief guest of the ceremony Minister of Foreign Mevlut Cavusoglu said that bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Turkey growing stronger day by day. Foreign Minister Cavusoglu declared that Turkey desires to promote cooperation between Sri Lanka and Turkey in fields of economy, culture, and education. Minister also emphasized on diversifying the export products and full use of two countries potentials. Minister Cavusoglu recalled the historical relations between Turkey and Sri Lanka as well.

Ambassador in his remarks said that by opening of Honorary Consulate in the tourism hub of Antalya Sri Lanka to explore untapped opportunities available in the Province of Antalya to increase trade, investment, tourism and cultural relations. He also indicated that Honorary Consulate Office work towards to connect business communities in Sri Lanka and Turkey.

Ambassador also officially handed over the Commission of Appointment to Honorary Consul of Alanya appointed Mr. Ali Kamburoğlu.

Mr. Kamburoğlu during his remarks assured his commitment to promote Sri Lanka in the region of Antalya to attract new trade opportunities and investment to Sri Lanka.  

President of Alanya Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr. Mehmet Şahin also addressed at the ceremony and expressed his desire to lead a trade delegation to visit Sri Lanka soon.
