The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Ankara accredited to Ukraine conducted its first mobile service in Kyiv, Ukraine on 12th October 2019 since change of the accreditation to the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Ankara.  The Mission’s Consular team led by Ms. Gajithra Navan, Second Secretary and Ms. Wajira Dias, Consular Officer assisted Sri Lankans living in Ukraine for their issues pertaining to passports and attestation of their documents. The Mission officials visited the Mostys’ka, City Chop and Borispol Airport detention centers in Ukraine on 10th and 11th and met the detained Sri Lankans who have entered Ukraine illegally and arranged their travel documents for them to return Sri Lanka. On the advice of the Ambassador, Ms. Gajithra Navan, Second Secretary along with the Consular Officer also met Ms. Olena Kuzmenchuk, Director General - Asia Pacific Division, Major Myros Pavel, Chief of the Administrative Office, Mostys’ka Point of Detention, Mr. Vitalii Nechytaylo, Chief of the Administrative Office, State Border Guard Service and Ms. Anastasia yeskina, Officer State Border Guard Service, Head Quarters (Administration) to establish a mechanism to repatriate Sri Lankans arrested by the Ukrainian authorities without a delay, mechanism to alert Sri Lankan enforcement authorities to curb illegal migration from Sri Lanka to Ukraine, issues pertaining to delays in issuing visas to Sri Lankans travelling to Ukraine for official visit and pending issues pertaining to MOUs and agreements that two countries currently is pursuing.
