Embassy of Sri Lanka in Ankara wishes to invite students and youth to participate in a competition organised to celebrate the World Seagrass Day on 1st March 2023. It is organized by the Ministry of Environment of Sri Lanka and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka. The deadline is 10th February 2023. The details are in the attached posters.
The United Nations General Assembly adopted a Sri Lankan sponsored Resolution to declare the "World Seagrass Day" on 23rd May 2022. The Resolution A/76/L.56, declared 1st March as World Seagrass Day. The resolution was adopted by consensus and co-sponsored by 24 countries.
In Sri Lanka, the Ministry of Environment in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is planning to organize a series of events to celebrate the World Seagrass Day on 1st March 2023. Events are planned to showcase Sri Lankan’s effort to restore, protect and conserve seagrass in our seas and awareness among youths, school children and communities especially the fishing community on the importance of seagrass.
